Buried alive beneath a sea of devices
mechanical and physical and lyrical enhancers
the machinery is crude and the message is cynical
but it beats back the silence that lives in its absence
I wake in the morning and think I'm suffocating
I don't see the point in doing this or doing nothing
So I stretch out my legs feel my heart in my chest
face the day full of rage and inexplicable hate
It builds and it builds and it builds til it stops
blunted by alcohol and televised shots
of real terror and horror, life altering loss
lives should be changed
but they're the same through and through
You can't phase us with death
You can't shake us with truth
You can't make us in your image
Your tools have all been broken
I steal my time from all you undeserving bastards and bankers employers landlorders bartenders professors
all you thieving soul stealers
I steal my time reading books at the bus stop writing songs in the shower spending hours on the clock thinking up ways to escape this unending performance performers performing
I won't let you take another goddamn day wrecking my brains and my back stealing my sleep and my dreams
making me less human than I used to be
with your lies about living and how it should be.
